Timeline:

Three source sheets filled out by Feb 19 (5 points)
Six source sheets filled out by Feb 26 (5 points)
Argument type presentations Feb 23, 24 (5 points)
Working thesis,  introduction and outline: due Feb 29 (5 points)
Rough draft due March 4 (typed, twelve font/ double space/ no exceptions) (30 points)

DocumentaryRough draft: Entire script, including sound track, sound effects, narration, visuals-- in story board form. Put it into three sections: beginning, middle and end. Outline what transpires in each section, including sources informing each section. Rough draft includes two hours of raw footage. Shoot all your footage in one or at most two days. Set aside time immediately so you don't get too busy and push the time back too far. You don't want to scramble. If you don't have at least two hours of footage, you don't have enough. Final should be 8 minutes to 11 minutes.

Speech or Ted Talk: Your speech can be spoken word if you wish. Whatever genre you take, make sure you watch several in that genre to get a sense of other's styles.
The rough draft is your script, longer than final speech-- plan to cut it down from ten to four minutes. Your final is the polished script, in MLA format, along with speech.

For speech, Documentary script and Essay: Your rough draft is four to six pages double spaced, 12 font. Final is polished MLA formatted essay, four to six pages.

For all genres:
Outline includes full introduction (1/2 to 1 page double space, 12 font) as well as working thesis. Thesis is arguable, not merely observation. It makes a specific and compelling claim. It uses vivid, specific and engaging syntax and diction. Most of the time, it will be at the end of the introduction, but not always.

Your outline includes all the sections of your essay; title each one. Indicate which source or sources informing each section. Describe three main points.

Things to remember (for final draft in particular):
Use qualifiers
Make sure your support/evidence/examples/illustrations  are specific.
Active Voice
No redundancy or wordiness
Varied sentence structure/ sophisticated/ grammatical/ not choppy or simplistic
Consistent tense and pt. of view.
Avoid hasty generalizations
Don't oversimplify
Watch for biases or assumptions
Manage your time and take responsibility
